Treatments offered

  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing practices in the world based on the philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin, sterile, single use needles (or pins as I like to call them) into specific acupuncture points located throughout the body. Acupuncture point combinations are carefully selected to stimulate, strengthen and relieve symptoms of your unique presentation of disease and/or pain. It is a holistic therapy that is safe and effective at treating a vast array of conditions.

  • Cupping

Cupping is a technique where plastic or glass cups are applied to the skin and a vacuum suction is created lifting a portion of the skin, fascia and muscle into the cup. Cupping relieves pain, relaxes tight muscle, loosens adhesions, releases fascia, drains excess fluid and toxins, breaks up and disperses cellulite and increases blood flow to the local area. Your Acupuncturist may also use cupping to help relieve your cough and phlegm congestion. Cupping can be performed stationary or in a sliding manner. Both techniques can leave you with circular 'bruises' or red marks that indicate that you are awesome. These bruises are not painful and will diminished in two to seven days.

  • Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional method that is frequently used in Chinese Medicine as an adjunct to your Acupuncture treatment. Moxibustion is the burning of a herb called Mugwort or Ai ye in Chinese, to increase Blood flow and circulation, relieve pain, improve energy and encourage turning of breech babies in pregnant women. Moxa can be applied directly to the skin or indirectly via a Mugwort 'cigar' or a rolled ball of mugwort on top of an acupuncture needle. Yes, Mugwort smells extremely similar to an illegal herb, but I assure you that moxa is all above board in the eyes of the law and it works wonders.

  • electro-acupuncture

Electro-Acupuncture is very similar to traditional acupuncture in that specific acupuncture points are inserted to treat your unique presentation of pain or disease. However in this case, small clips are attached to the appropriate needles as well as a device that generates an electric pulse. This signal passes between two needles and several pairs of needles may be stimulated at one time depending on the condition being treated. Electro-Acupuncture may be included in your Acupuncture treatment to treat chronic pain, persistent injuries, neurological disorders and even to encourage labour in pregnant women.

  • chinese medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine has been traced back at least 5,000 years, making it one of the oldest and most long-standing healthcare systems in the world. Today, there are over 450 different substances commonly used in herbal formula; most of which are of plant origin though some animal and mineral substances may be used. Herbal formulas are prescribed as small rolled pills or capsules and can support a wide variety of conditions . On a side note, we don't use any endangered species or exotic elephant husks in our formulas. We love animals so much that we sometimes give them Acupuncture for pain relief too!
